American Express is now offering a one-time $25 statement credit when you purchase $75 or more at Staples. See inside for potential money maker deals.
To get the offer:
Log-in to your online profile at americanexpress.com
Click on “Offers for you” tab and find if there is an offer for Staples or not.
If there is, click “Save Offer” then you good to go.
If there is not, call AMEX at (800) 297-7500 and ask if you could have this offer added to your card. I successfully called in and get the offer added to my card since one of my card has this offer online while another card does not.
If you have only one AMEX card, the best bet is to buy $100 VISA gift card in store or online at http://www.staples.com/Visa-100-Gift-Card/product_414600 Note that you have to pay additional $1 for shipping fee if you choose to buy online. With this deal, you will get $19.05 ($25-$5.95) if you buy at your local Staples or $18.05 ($25-$6.95) if you buy online.
But if you have two AMEX cards (or more), you should buy $200 VISA or Master Card gift card which are not available online (If you cannot find them, ask any staffs to find item # 192695). The fee for those cards is $6.95 and you can split the transaction into two to charge $100 on one card and $106.95 on another. So eventually, you will get $43.05 ($50-$6.95) from this deal if you have two AMEX cards !!
